Steps In Making Projection Mapping On A Wedding Cake
Projection mapping on a wedding cake is becoming more and more popular nowadays. Some spend so much money on this kind of cake, but what they do not know it is actually easy to do. I actually downloaded the software for free.
Here are the steps in projecting mapping a wedding cake:
First you need to gather the things that you need. You will need a dummy cake, projector, download the free trial of Photoshop, Cinema 4D, After effects, Resolume arena 4 and a laptop. You must get your cake video mapped!
A. First step
There must be communication between the resolume software and the projector. There is a wire that you can use to connect your laptop to the projector, this allows you to change the screen resolution. You can set this in the control panel. Choose the extended option so you can have two active and visible displays.
Check the composition settings of the resolume, to start the output setup. Click the mini option on the size, to recognize the projector and it will give you the size. This will be the output monitor of what you will be projecting. The output provides a lot of options like advanced, windowed, full screen and more. B. Second step
Next you need to access the advance menu options. Then setup the screen since this will help you assign the right projector when it comes to masking and slicing. Every screen has at least one or more slices. When you define a slice you can control the parts of the composition. Learn more about your wedding cake goals!.
C. Third step
The third step is screen masking and cropping. This step can be a bit complicated and interesting. Both displays must be configured into two modes. The output transformation and the input selection. The output transformation is where you can do the screen warping. Screen mapping allows you to control the geometry or the position of the final output. This is very helpful for projection mapping the output on a irregularly shaped surface and for aligning multiple projectors. You have options to modify objects.
D. The last step
This step is the designing of the content and 3D modeling. You can generate the content through cinema 4D. The measurements of each layer of the cake must be exact. The last step is designing the visuals. Once you are done you will import it into the resolume. You need to make sure that the file is saved in MOV.
